Business Insurance Saver publishes write-ups on ways to understand and manage small business insurance costs. That is the whole remit. One subject, covered properly, rather than a little of everything.

Where this started

Most of what a small business owner reads about insurance costs is written to sell a policy. That is a reasonable thing for an insurer or a broker to publish, but it leaves the plain questions, what drives a premium and what a saving actually trades away, without a neutral answer.

This site is an attempt at that answer: pages that say how a cost is made up, what changes it, and where a cheaper option stops covering you.

What this site publishes

Write-ups of individual options, head-to-head comparisons between two of them, and plain explanations of the terms that come up along the way.

Each page sets out to answer one question, and is published when it does.

How it is written

Where one option is better than another for a given job, that is said in words, with the reason attached. It is never expressed as a number.

  • No scores out of ten, no star ratings, no tier boards and no leaderboards.
  • No description of testing that did not take place.
  • Pricing and feature claims are checked against the vendor’s own pages, and dated where the page says so.
  • Where something is genuinely unclear, the page says it is unclear rather than guessing.

How it is paid for

Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links, which means a commission may be earned if you follow one and sign up. That arrangement never decides what appears here or in what order. It is set out in full under How This Site Is Funded.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, out of date, or reads as more confident than the evidence supports, write to [email protected] and say so. A link to the page that contradicts it is the fastest way to get it fixed.
